Doona Liki Trike S3

Worth It If…
$280 at Albee
$280 at Albee Baby for the Liki Trike S3 (InStock; the same $280 at Babylist and Traveling Tikes) — the S5 is $330 for wooden handlebar grips and the travel/premium bags; the trike underneath is the same See it on Amazon ↗

Doona’s Liki S3 folds to a verified 12.5 × 23.4 × 9.2 in, arrives fully assembled, and disappears into overhead bins and small closets like no rival — held to Worth It If… because it’s a smooth-surface-only ride with no nap recline, a 37.5 lb S3 load cap that can end the ‘to age 3’ run early, a separately sold $55 helmet, and a $280 price against $60–$120 driveway trikes.

The pitch

the world’s most compact folding trike — folds to 12.5 × 23.4 × 9.2 in, fits an overhead bin, comes fully assembled; five stages from parent push (10 months) to independent trike (3 years); dual parent/child steering; UPF 50+ canopy; 5-point harness

The catch

a smooth-surface machine — small wheels struggle on grass, gravel and broken pavement; no recline for naps; the 37.5 lb S3 load cap can end the “to age 3” run early; the helmet is a separate $55; and the fifth “stage” is the fold itself

What it is

A folding push-trike from Doona — this check pins the Liki Trike S3, ASIN B07TLYP5F2 (Greyhound colourway of the Amazon listing; model SP530-99-030-003), for children 10 months to 3 years. It arrives fully assembled and converts through parent-push, push, tricycle and bike configurations as parts (parent bar, canopy, footrest, pedals) come off. Folded: 12.5 × 23.4 × 9.17 in; open with parent handle 36.8 × 19.7 × 40.3 in; weight 14.77 lb. The S5 ($330) is the same trike plus wooden handlebar grips, a premium storage bag and a travel bag (the Midnight edition, $380, adds faux-leather trim); the S3 already includes a cup holder, storage bag and pedal straps.

Claims vs. reality

“World’s most compact folding trike” — THE FOLD VERIFIES; THE CROWN IS UNCHALLENGED IN SOURCES CHECKED. The folded dimensions (12.5 × 23.4 × 9.17 in) agree across Doona’s retailers (Albee Baby, Babylist, Traveling Tikes) and are genuinely overhead-bin scale; no comparably small fold from a rival appears in any source consulted. “World’s most” remains a brand superlative, but unlike most, it has a number attached and the number is real.

“Comes fully assembled” — VERIFIED. Every retailer record states it, and it matters: assembly is where rival grow-with-me trikes burn their first hour.

“5-in-1 / five stages” — COUNTED GENEROUSLY. Doona’s own stage list is parent mode, push mode, tricycle mode, bike mode — and folded mode. Four riding configurations plus the fold is honest arithmetic only if the fold is a feature you count; here, unusually, it is the feature — the check prints the counting anyway.

“10 months to 3 years” — TRUE BY AGE, CAPPED BY WEIGHT. Albee Baby’s S3 spec table sets Maximum Product Load at 37.5 lb; some S5 retail copy lists 44.1 lb. The conflict is printed rather than resolved: plan on ~37 lb for the S3, which means a 90th-percentile toddler can outgrow the Liki months before turning three. The age range is not a promise about your child’s size.

Safety & recalls

No CPSC recall for the Doona Liki Trike was found on Oct 25, 2026. The safety line that must not blur: the Liki is not a car seat and carries no crash certification — independent coverage states it flatly, and the Doona name (earned on a certified car-seat/stroller) must not be allowed to imply otherwise; never use it in or on a vehicle. For the riding itself: a helmet is a separate purchase (Doona’s own Liki Helmet, $55) and should be part of the budget from the first parent-mode ride; use the 5-point harness in the parent and push stages; the small soft-ride wheels are for smooth surfaces — grass, gravel and kerbs are tip-and-stick territory, per the test file below.

Real reviews — what owners say

MadeForMums (hands-on, S5) is the independent pool: brilliant for travel and smooth surfaces, poor on uneven ground, no nap function — the three findings that define the product’s envelope. Amazon’s S3 listings show steady volume (50–100+ bought in the past month across colourways in the crawls consulted); owner praise centres on the fold, airport and travel duty, and city sidewalks; complaints repeat the test file — small wheels on rough ground, price, and children outgrowing it by weight. The S3/S5 owner files do not separate cleanly (same trike), and this check does not pretend otherwise.

Price & FSA/HSA

Pinned: $280 for the S3 — Albee Baby (Open Graph offer, InStock), Babylist and Traveling Tikes agree; Doona’s own store pricing is consistent with the band. The S5’s +$50 buys wooden grips and two bags, not a better trike; the Midnight’s +$100 over the S3 buys trim. Add the $55 helmet to any configuration’s true cost. Against the category: conventional grow-with-me trikes run $60–$120 and ride rougher ground better; the Liki premium is entirely the fold and the finish. FSA/HSA: not eligible.

The fold is the product, and the fold is extraordinary: 12.5 × 23.4 × 9.2 inches — overhead-bin small, out of the box fully assembled, at 14.77 lb. If your life is flights, small cars and smaller closets, no rival trike disappears like this one. As a trike, though, it is a fair-weather machine: independent testing (MadeForMums, on the S5) calls it brilliant for travel and smooth surfaces and poor on uneven ground, there is no recline or nap position, and the weight cap does quiet damage to the “10 months to 3 years” promise — Albee’s S3 spec table caps the load at 37.5 lb, so a bigger two-year-old can age out by weight long before the birthday on the box. The “5 stages” also count the folded mode as a stage. At $280 — against $60–$120 for a perfectly good driveway trike, and with the helmet a separate $55 — this is travel gear priced like travel gear: Worth It If… the travelling is real. And one line that must never blur: the Liki is not a car seat and has no crash certification, whatever the Doona badge makes you assume.
