About WorthItMama

Baby products, checked before you buy them.

WorthItMama started the way most baby purchases start now: a product shows up on TikTok or Instagram, the claims sound amazing, the comments are split, and the price is high enough that guessing wrong hurts. Bri kept finding pumps, monitors, and gear exactly that way — and kept asking the same question: is it actually worth it? WorthItMama is that question, answered properly, for every product we can get to.

Send us a product you found anywhere, and we check it before you buy it. 93 products are checked so far, and the library grows every week from reader requests.

How we check

Every check follows the same five steps:

  1. Claims vs. reality. We take the claim in the ad, the listing, or the viral video and test it against the manufacturer's own specs and fine print. If the claim only holds in the best case, the check says so.
  2. Safety and recall record. We check CPSC, FDA, and AAP sources and the product's recall history before anything else is considered.
  3. Real owner reviews. We read the patterns across owner reviews — what breaks, what annoys, what people still love at month six — not just the star average.
  4. Price, checked. The current price, whether the "sale" is a real sale, and the best verified place to buy.
  5. FSA/HSA eligibility, where it applies.

Every check ends in one of three answers: Worth It, Worth It If… (with the conditions spelled out), or Not Worth It.

What we don't do: we don't buy and lab-test products, and we never claim we did. Our checks are research — manufacturer documentation, regulator records, independent testing from labs and reviewers who do hands-on work, and real owner reports — with sources cited in every check. If we couldn't verify something, the check says that too.

Who runs it

WorthItMama is run by Bri Virzi — a family nurse practitioner working in primary care, mom to one toddler, with another on the way. Her clinical background is why the safety and recall check comes first in every check we publish, and why we summarize official guidance instead of giving advice of our own. Bri also writes The Check-Up, our free Sunday newsletter: the week's new checks, one viral claim tested against the evidence, and the safety and recall alerts that matter.

Independence

No brand can pay for a badge, a better answer, or a softer finding. Some links on this site are affiliate links — if you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Commissions never change an answer: products are checked first and linked second, and some checks carry no shopping link at all (our baby-loungers safety warning is one).
