Bouncer from 8 lbs to 20 lbs or sitting attempts; reverse the seat for a toddler chair to 29 lbs. Current fabrics: Woven, Woven-Jersey Tri-Fabric and Mesh; older Cotton seats are still widely sold. Seat removes and machine-washes warm, air-dry only.

BabyBjörn itself says the only differences between Balance Soft and Bouncer Bliss (check #37) are frame colour and the fabric seat it ships with — same frame, same function, seats interchange. Buy whichever is cheaper in the fabric you want.

“Ergonomic, hip-healthy — develops balance and motor skills, from birth to 2 years”
Ergonomic/hip-healthy is the best-supported claim — IHDI hip-healthy acknowledgement, and BabyGearLab’s testers on THIS product found the fitted seat distributes weight evenly (Quality & Comfort 8.7/10). “Develops balance and motor skills” is cause-and-effect play, not proven milestones — floor time builds motor skills. “Birth to 2 years” is frame life: the bouncer itself ends at 20 lbs/sitting (about 8–10 months for most), then a possible gap, then the toddler chair. The lowest recline is a rest position — not for sleep, despite “play, rest and sleep” retailer naming.
Safety & recalls
No CPSC recall of the Balance Soft. Complies with ASTM F2167/F2613 and EN 12790:2009; fabrics OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class 1. The 2009 recall was the discontinued predecessor Babysitter Balance — check the model on any used unit. Floor only, harness fastened, supervised, short bursts (about 10–15 minutes at a time), and move a sleeping baby to a flat crib.
