What it is — the original clip-on portable
The original clip-on portable — 3.5″ across, about 3.4–3.8 oz (the lightest portable we have checked), three continuous sounds (bright white noise, deep white noise, gentle surf), push-button volume, a small amber nightlight, a child lock, and a baby-safe clip for a stroller, car seat or diaper bag. No app, no WiFi, no Bluetooth, no timer, no subscription — continuous play only. USB-rechargeable (cable included, no wall adapter); the current brand page lists USB-C, older units are micro-USB — check the port on yours. 1-year warranty.
Claim check — deep masking, three sounds, and a battery that depends on volume
The masking is real and the sound tests deep — in a four-way hands-on test its white noise was deeper and more consistent than the Hatch Go’s, with no looping. But three sounds is all there is: no heartbeat, no shush, no lullaby. Battery life depends on volume: under 5 hours at max volume with the nightlight, about 10 hours at max without it, and a full night or more at the low-to-medium volumes you should actually use. The manual’s rule: turn it off and unplug it at least every 14 days — left plugged in continuously it can freeze and the battery fades.
Safety & recalls — no recall found; distance is the safety feature
No CPSC recall found (checked Oct 17, 2026). The real rule for every sound machine: in the Pediatrics study, all 14 machines tested topped the 50 dB nursery limit at max volume at crib distance. Keep it at or below about 50 dB at your baby’s ear, across the room (about 7 feet), on the low half of the dial. It is marketed to clip to the crib — use the clip for the stroller instead; overnight, distance is the safety feature. It is not a toy; keep it out of the baby’s mouth, and use the child lock so a toddler can’t crank the volume.
What parents say — 4.6 stars across ~28,400 ratings
4.6 stars across about 28,400 Amazon ratings (81% five-star) — one of the strongest owner records in the category. Owners praise the deep non-looping sound, separate buttons you can find by feel in the dark, and units still going after years. Complaints: only 3 sounds, no timer, loud clicky buttons, a nightlight too dim to feed by, and a minority of units failing after a few months (owners praise Yogasleep’s fast replacements; the 1-year warranty is the backstop).
Price & FSA/HSA
$25.99 at yogasleep.com and Amazon — $14 less than the Hatch Rest Go (check #7, $39.99). Yogasleep’s own Hushh 2 ($29.99) adds 3 more sounds, a timer and backlit buttons for $4 more.
FSA/HSA: not eligible as a standard purchase (general sleep soother). White-noise machines can be reimbursed only with a Letter of Medical Necessity for a diagnosed condition — don’t budget FSA/HSA dollars without the letter and your plan’s confirmation.

Worth It — the portable benchmark at the lowest proven price: the deepest portable white noise in hands-on testing, the lightest body in its class, and a 4.6-star record across ~28,400 ratings for $25.99. Run it across the room on low volume, not clipped loud to the crib rail. Skip it if your baby needs a heartbeat or shush sound, if you need a timer (the Hushh 2 is the $4 fix), or if you want a plug-in nursery machine — this one wants unplugging every 14 days.
