The fairest double architecture in the library — two identical full-size seats at 50 lbs each where the Vista V3 (check #21) gives the second child a 40-lb seat, and no adapters to buy — worth it if two children are genuinely coming, because the second seat is $349.95 (not the ~$199 older coverage suggests), hands-on testing puts the newborn cot low and out of sight beside a toddler, and the double build lifts at…

The pitch

20+ configurations, converts single-to-double with no extra adapters, folds with both seats attached, 55 lbs of storage across two baskets

The catch

the second seat is $349.95 and the cot $299.95; the 55-lb storage exists only in single mode (the shopper basket is replaced by the second child); and the cot-plus-toddler setup rides the newborn low and out of view

FSA/HSA

What it is

A full-size inline single-to-double stroller — one reversible, near-flat-reclining seat in the box, and adapters integrated into the frame, so a second seat, cot or car seat clicks into the lower position with nothing else to buy. 28.4 lbs as a single; open 41.9″ × 25.4″ × 42.7″; folded 32.9″ × 25.4″ × 12.2″ — and it folds with one or two seats attached. Each seat is rated to 50 lbs, upper and lower alike. In the box: frame, one seat unit with bumper bar, detachable shopping basket, rain cover, cup holder, car-seat adapters (CYBEX seats; also Maxi-Cosi Mico 30 and Nuna PIPA on the included adapters). One-pull harness, XXL UPF 50+ canopy, all-wheel suspension, 2-year warranty. US sources split on the seat floor (3 vs. 6 months — follow your seat’s label); from birth needs the cot or a car seat, each sold separately. This is the current Gazelle S 2 generation (one-pull harness) sold under the plain Gazelle S name; the battery e-Gazelle S is a different product.

Claims vs. reality

“20+ configurations.” The count multiplies out honestly — and collapses where newborns are concerned. MadeForMums’ 2023 hands-on test (newborn + 2-year-old) found the cot can only ride low and forward beside the toddler seat: the toddler must face the parent on top, the baby rides where neither can see the other, the lower bracket is fixed, and the push feels long and hard up kerbs. Her one usable newborn setup was car seat on top, toddler world-facing below — a workaround, not the photographed cot pairing. Buy the 20+ as a toddler-era and twin claim (two seats, two cots, two car seats — all real), not as twenty newborn arrangements.

“Converts with no additional adapters.” True — and the smallest part of the bill. The adapters are genuinely integrated (testers love never losing them). Conversion costs the second seat unit: $349.95 in current US records; the ~$199 figure in older coverage is the original generation’s seat. The cot is $299.95. True totals at the Amazon street price: double $1,114.91; from-birth single $1,064.91 — still under check #21’s Vista V3 system (~$1,350–$1,550) at every equivalent build, but a four-figure system either way.

Equal seats — the real headline. Both seats are the same full-size seat, 50 lbs each, on either position, facing either way (Cybex FAQ; every hands-on owner repeats it). Check #21’s Vista gives its second child a 40-lb RumbleSeat. Asterisks: the seats run narrow (big toddlers may outgrow the dimensions before the rating), and the lower rider sits lower and further away — tandem geometry, not a defect.

“Compact fold” and “55 lbs of storage.” The fold is the honest half: it takes both seats with it at a genuinely flat 12.2″ deep. But the package stays 32.9″ long and 25.4″ wide, testers decline the word compact, and the double build lifts at ~37.8 lbs. Storage: 30-lb lower basket + 25-lb shopper = 55 lbs in single mode only — the shopper basket is replaced by the second child, so as a double, storage is the (still excellent) 30-lb lower basket.

Safety & recalls

No CPSC recall was found for the Cybex Gazelle S (checked Oct 21, 2026). The only CYBEX stroller recall on the CPSC record is a January 2010 recall to repair of older CYBEX strollers (hinge fingertip hazard, Regal Lager) — different models, a decade before the Gazelle existed; not this product. The cot is not a sleep space: Cybex’s own US cot page states its cots are not certified for sleeping and a baby who falls asleep in one must be moved to a firm, approved surface on their back (UK copy claims overnight approval — US buyers follow the US page and AAP safe sleep). Same rule for the toddler seat and clicked-in car seats. Harness snug every ride, brake at every stop, no bags hung from the handlebar in double mode. The Kid Board ($149.95) that makes “carries three” mean two seated plus one standing holds a 3.1/5 owner file (won’t fold up; handlebar crowds the standing child) — budget it as contested. One isolated owner report of a sticking fold and a thumb injury (Thingtesting) is recorded in the full check as a single unverified account — any unit whose fold starts sticking should go to the brand under warranty, not be forced. Information only, not medical advice.

Real reviews — what owners say

Amazon’s listing family runs 8.6/10 (≈4.3/5) across 440 reviews (pricehistory.app record for the pinned ASIN, colours sharing the pool); Babylist reads 4.3/5 across 106. Two full MadeForMums parent tests anchor the editorial file — one positive on flexibility and storage, the 2023 test (4.5 stars) detailed and critical on newborn double mode. Praise repeats in one voice: the equal 50-lb seats, the huge lower basket (diaper boxes, airport loads), the fold with seats attached, the one-pull harness, and a smooth one-handed push as a single. Complaints, in order: weight and lift (heavy over steps and into trunks, worst as a ~37.8-lb double); newborn double-mode geometry (baby low and out of sight beside the toddler); width and bulk (25.4″ everywhere; small trunks and bus bays squeeze); narrow seats and finish niggles (a rattly-frame note, a hood that can slide off its clips, a handlebar button pressable mid-steer); and the Kid Board. No repeating mechanical-failure pattern surfaced across pools.

Price & FSA/HSA

$764.96 at Amazon for the pinned Moon Black ASIN (Oct 21, 2026), against a $899.95 list — Babylist and specialty retail corroborate $764.96, and the line runs recurring 15–25% events ($749.96 repeats; $674.96 on Jul 17, 2026). Colour is a lever: the Sky Blue ASIN read $649.99 (Oct 12, 2026) — ~$115 less for the identical stroller, and the only route to a true double under $1,000 (~$999.94 with the second seat). System prices: second seat $349.95, cot $299.95, kid board $149.95, snack tray $79.95. The second seat is the piece to catch on sale or second-hand (inspect the harness and one-pull mechanism on a used unit). FSA/HSA: not eligible — general baby gear, not a medical expense.

The verdict

WORTH IT IF… two children are genuinely coming — twins, or a second within ~two years — and you’ll run it as its file dictates. Conditions: your newborn plan is the car seat on top, not the low-riding cot beside a toddler (or you accept that geometry for one short season); you have the trunk and the lift (28.4 lbs single, ~37.8 lbs double, 32.9″ folded — measure the trunk first); your terrain is pavements and park paths (the suspension file splits, with the most detailed test against rough ground); you buy at street, never list, with colour flexibility worth ~$115; and you skip or scrutinise the Kid Board. Not worth it if: one child is the settled plan (heavier, wider, pricier than dedicated singles); you need two roomy seats for big toddlers today (50-lb rating, narrow seats — side-by-sides serve that job better); your newborn vision requires baby high and facing you beside a world-facing toddler (this frame can’t do it); or the budget only works by wishing the $349.95 second seat away. The sticker is a down payment — a fair one, with the best second seat in its class at the end of it.

The fairest double architecture in the library — two identical full-size seats at 50 lbs each, where the Vista V3 (check #21) gives the second child a 40-lb seat — and no adapter purchases to convert. But the sticker is a down payment: the second seat is $349.95 (not the ~$199 older coverage suggests), the newborn cot setup puts the baby low and out of sight in hands-on testing, and the fold that takes both seats still weighs ~37.8 lbs as a double. Worth it if two children are genuinely coming and your newborn plan is the car seat on top.
