Is the Chicco LullaGo Anywhere LE worth it?
Chicco LullaGo Anywhere LE Portable Bassinet
A genuinely portable 12.6 lb bassinet — flat fold, carry bag included, firm flat waterproof mattress, no CPSC recall — but the LE premium over the $99.99 standard Anywhere buys only a canopy and wood-grain legs, and the small 28″ × 15″ travel pad is one owners watch babies outgrow within weeks.

A 12.6 lb bassinet that folds flat into its included carry bag with snap-on legs and a firm, flat, waterproof mattress — GREENGUARD Gold Certified, with a removable canopy and wood-grain legs
The catch
The LE’s $30–$40 premium over the standard Anywhere buys the canopy and leg finish only — the sleep platform is identical, on a small 28″ × 15″ travel pad owners report babies outgrowing by ~6 weeks, with a single cheap-feeling sheet included and one owner report of mattress lean at 14 lbs
FSA/HSA
not eligible — a bassinet is general infant furniture, not a qualified medical expense under IRS §213(d)
What it is
A freestanding, flat-folding portable bassinet — the flagship trim of Chicco’s LullaGo Anywhere line — and, despite “bedside” wording in some retailer titles, not a bedside sleeper: it does not attach to the bed, swivel over it or drop a side. Pin the trim precisely: the Anywhere SE is $89.99, the standard Anywhere is $99.99, and this Anywhere LE is $129.99 at Chicco. What the LE adds over the standard Anywhere, per Chicco’s own category page, is exactly two things: a removable canopy and wood-grain-finish metal legs. Everything else — the travel-size mattress, flat fold and carry bag, waterproof mattress with fitted sheet, storage pocket, zip-off washable fabrics, mesh side panels — is shared down the line. Chicco’s official specs: assembled 35″ L × 22″ W × 42″ H (the 42″ is to the top of the canopy), assembled weight 12.6 lbs. The sleep surface is the small end of the category: Chicco’s own sheet page puts the Anywhere mattress at approximately 28″ × 15″. Use limit: infants up to 20 lbs or until the baby pushes up on hands and knees, whichever comes first. The waterproof mattress includes one bonus fitted sheet; fabrics zip off for machine washing. There is no height adjustment, no rocking base and no electronics.
Claims vs. reality
“Anywhere” portability (“weighing only 13 pounds”): verified. Chicco’s spec block says 12.6 lbs assembled, honestly rounded to 13. The bassinet folds flat, the legs snap on and off, and a carry bag is included — and owners back the setup claim with repeated minutes-fast, tool-free assembly reports. Caveats: the mattress itself does not fold with the frame (it travels as a flat pad inside the bag), and the fixed-height legs have no leveling, so “anywhere” means anywhere with a flat floor. The LE premium: $30 more than the standard Anywhere and $40 more than the SE buys a canopy and a leg finish — the sleep-relevant hardware is the same travel platform, and nothing about the LE sleeps safer or longer. “GREENGUARD Gold Certified”: Chicco claims it, and states the bassinet is Verified by the Baby Safety Alliance — but this check could not independently confirm the LE in UL’s own GREENGUARD directory, and Chicco publishes no certificate number. Chicco makes no CertiPUR-type foam claim and publishes neither the pad’s thickness nor its material. The mattress: the included pad is firm, flat and waterproof, sized ~28″ × 15″ per Chicco’s sheet page, which warns parents to match sheets to the model code — the right setup under the AAP frame of a flat, firm, bare surface with the manufacturer’s own mattress. A spare sheet is close to mandatory: Chicco’s own is $10.
Safety & recalls
No CPSC recall names Chicco LullaGo or the LullaGo Anywhere LE (checked Nov 1, 2026; a September 2026 full-database SaferProducts check likewise found no Chicco bassinet recalls). Two nearby stories are not this product: litigation over the inclined napper on Chicco Lullaby playards (different product, never a CPSC recall) and unsourced blog claims of a 2018 LullaGo recall, for which no CPSC record exists. The standing frame is the federal one: bassinets sold in the US must meet 16 CFR 1218, incorporating ASTM F2194, including a sleep surface within 10° of horizontal, and Chicco states this bassinet is Verified by the Baby Safety Alliance, the program that sample-tests to that standard — though Chicco does not print the standard number itself on the product page. The usage boundary is plain: 20 lbs or pushing up on hands and knees, whichever comes first.
Real reviews — what owners say
Chicco’s own page rates the LE 4.5/5 across 17 reviews; Target’s listing index shows 4.7/5 across 29 ratings — a broad but shallow pool, so treat the averages as directional. The consistent praise is specific: very light and easy to carry between rooms and houses, fast snap-on setup, mesh sides that make the baby easy to see, a wipe-clean pad. The complaints form three patterns. (1) The sheet is the weak part: Target’s most detailed critical review loves the bassinet and “strongly dislikes” the included sheet, reporting Chicco’s replacement sheets wash and wear poorly; only one sheet is included. (2) Babies outgrow the small pad fast: one owner reports an 11 lb, 22-inch baby at 6 weeks already hitting the sides and end — the arithmetic of a 28″ × 15″ mattress. (3) One stability report that matters: a Target reviewer reports the mattress bottom began leaning with a ~14 lb baby, who woke against the side; they stopped use at 3 months, well under the 20 lb limit, and Chicco’s reply restated the limit without addressing the lean. It is a single report, not a counted pattern — but it matches the pad-shift room BabyGearLab found on an earlier LullaGo generation, so check pad fit and levelness on your own unit. No carpet-specific failure pattern was found. No independent lab test of the Anywhere LE itself was found.
Price & FSA/HSA
$129.99 at Chicco USA for the Serene (Nov 1, 2026; $139.99 at the top of Chicco’s colorway range; $126.99 at Target; the LE listed at $149.99 in September 2026, so prices near $150 are stale). In-family: Anywhere SE $89.99, standard Anywhere $99.99, Anywhere LE $129.99 — the premium buys the canopy and wood-grain legs only. Against the library’s checked portable/value bassinets (Mika Micky Bedside Sleeper, Baby Delight Beside Me Dreamer, Arm’s Reach Clear-Vue), the LE sits at the top of that value band with the smallest sleep surface and no bedside function — the money buys the lightest, flattest-packing travel package of the set. Running costs stay low: a spare Chicco sheet is $10, third-party 2-packs ~$25, no other required accessories. Bassinets are not FSA/HSA eligible — general infant furniture, not a qualified medical expense under IRS §213(d); eligibility lists name bassinets explicitly as ineligible, and the GREENGUARD Gold positioning changes nothing.
